NBPC New Media Insitute: NMI 2007 ~ Delta Children 4mins 37secs

As part of NBPC's New Media Institute 2007, 26 producers gathered in Jackson, Mississippi to create new media pieces documenting blues culture in the Mississippi Delta. Their final products are as varied as their talents; video and audio pieces, interactive locative media geo tags, even website architectures. NMI 2007 was funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB).
Children Of The Delta
This Blues Session is an informative and light-hearted vodcast (video podcast) that effectively passes the baton from accomplished blues musicians to young people who wish to continue the legacy of blues music through the recording of live music sessions. Each live session showcases a musical story performed, bridging the gap between a group of young and old blues musicians from the Delta.

This was great! I especially enjoyed the girl on the drums. It reminded me of when I was a Music Teacher in Bedstuy. I always encourage the girls to play the drums. I manage to get one girl interested and she loved it. Her mom was so proud at the recital.
Short story- I remember during my undergraduate studies, I LOVED playing the drums. We played a lot of jazz. It was cool. However, my professor had other plans for me. He wanted me to sing. I enjoyed singing and could play the drums just as well. Anyway, I remember being very unhappy just singing. I guess that is why I always encourage girls to play what ever instrument they like, especially the drums.

I really enjoyed this piece....its super to see young kids keeping the blues alive. I like the settings...really well put together.
